Indian roads witness alarming numbers of accidents each day in which many lives are lost. Road crashes claimed more than 200,000 lives in India (2018) alone and contributed to the economic loss of approximately 3% GDP. 17 people die every hour on Indian roads.

In the last ten years, road crashes have killed over 13 lakh people in India. According to the Law Commission of India, 50% of these victims died of preventable injuries and could have been saved if they had received care on time.

Yi Road Safety Initiatives:

These figures are worrisome and have forced Yi to build an ecosystem to educate and monitor the drivers, bystanders, and other stakeholders.

We at Young Indians aim to create awareness among youngsters so that road discipline and safety is part of their ethos from a young age.

The objective is to educate stakeholders on the importance of abiding traffic rules and imbibing in them a responsibility to take care of the fellow Indians.

Core of the programme is through the, “Chota Cop” , initiative that involves educating a child at a thalir school on road safety. These children are then asked to maintain a report card for their parents while they drive. Submission of the same results in them getting a certificate.
